JOINT MEDICAL MISSION AND ADOPT-A-SCHOOL-PROGRAM SERVES HUNDREDS OF INDIGENTS AT BRGY MATURANUC

    Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City Nueva Ecija–The 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion joined the conduct of medical mission and adopt a school program in Barangay Maturanoc, Guimba, Nueva Ecija on July 26, 2019.

    200 students of Barangay Maturanuc Elementary School from barangays San Roque, Yuson and Consuelo and Maturanoc, all of Guimba, Nueva Ecija, received school supplies.

    Moreover, 100 residents availed of the free medical consultations and free medicines, while 65 individuals availed of free haircut.

    In addition, 1,700 assorted books were also donated to Maturanoc Elementary School.

    The activity was hosted by the barangay council of Barangay Maturanoc, Guimba, Nueva Ecija headed by Barangay Chairman Zosima S. Esguerra and School faculty of Maturanoc Elementary School headed by Ms Marilou F. Tongol, Ph.D., the School Principal.

    The endeavor was a joint undertaking of Heneral Antonio Luna Masonic Lodge, the Mabuhay Shriners Philippines, the AFP-DND Sojourners Club, the Knights of Rizal-Panday Chapter, and the 69th Infantry “COUGAR” Battalion.

    The one-day joint medical mission and adopt a school program was intended for the urban poor. It aims to meet the health needs of the indigent residents and motivate students to study hard for their future.

    The free haircut rendered by the 69IB shows the Army personnel's flexibility and their readiness to serve the community not only on matters pertaining to security, but also in providing free services, like rendering free haircut.

    Major General Lenard T. Agustin AFP, Commander, 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army said that the delivery of basic services to indigent people is one the main focus of the government right now. He commended the 69IB, its partner organizations, and the local officials of Barangay Maturanoc for working together in bringing free services to the people.

    Lieutenant Colonel Arcario S. Posada for his part expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the activity for inviting the 69IB to be part of the activity. He also stated that the unit will always support endeavors such as the adopt a school program and medical mission as it directly benefits the the poor, the elderly and the students.
