Nine Former Rebels in Bataan Receives Financial Assistance

    FORT MAGSAYSAY, NUEVA ECIJA – Nine former rebels who surrendered to the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion from the Province of Bataan received financial assistance at the Provincial Capitol of Bataan on February 4, 2019.

    Hon. Albert S. Garcia, Governor of the Province of Bataan, awarded the financial assistance with the amount of ₱ 10,000.00 to each of the surrenderees.

    The former rebels brought with them one improvised M14 rifle with 26 live ammunition, two cal .38 revolver with 13 live ammunition and one hand grenade when they yielded last November 26, 2018 at one of the patrol bases of 48IB.

    The granting of cash assistance to the former rebels is through the initiative of the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Arnel B Cabugon, Commanding Officer. Said amount will serve as a start-up in creating money generating business to begin their new life.

    Brigadier General Lenard T Agustin AFP, Acting Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army lauded the efforts of the Guardians Troopers. He also conveyed his appreciation to the local government unit of Bataan headed by Hon. Garcia.

    “The awarding of financial assistance is just first of the many benefits that the former rebels will enjoy. I call on the rebels who are still in the mountains to lay down your arms and be with your families. 7ID is always open to help you go back to the folds of the government,” BGen Agustin added.

    Lt Col Cabugon conveyed that 48IB is always ready to provide assistance to the former rebels in the processing of their application for Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

    The ₱ 10,000.00 cash assistance awarded to the rebels is thru the initiative of the LGU of Bataan and excluded from the E-CLIP benefits.
